A delightful new adventure!

October, November, December... OH MY!!!
I do not even know where the time has gone. It has escaped me. Fall was intense. Enter Winter......
I have been doing some home improvements to my new house.(strange but true) No new home is perfect! However I did have time to make a cute little centerpiece for my hubby's birthday party and I even managed to make some ornaments for my tree. So I feel I have accomplished something. I am short on time so I'll post a few pics.

New project
Christmas is fast approaching and I have decided on a theme for my tree in our new home. What better way to celebrate a new life for our family than photos of our life up until now. Here is my inspiration and I can't wait! We'll see how it goes. This is a short note since my home needs a good cleaning. Hope everyone is enjoying their week.

Sweet escape
At this very moment I write to you from the place in my home that go to relax, to sleep, to read, to get ready for the day and to escape. The place of course is my bedroom. I have chosen colors I love and that I know will soothe my soul no matter how tired or stressed out I may be. Today, I was just looking for a nice place to sit and think and so... here I find myself, tucked underneath my favorite brown quilt from IKEA. The blinds are open and the sun shining through them and it is mid-day. A beautiful Fall day that is inspiring me to do so many things.
I look around my room and realize I have taken much of the time spent in our new home to make this one room suit me and my hubby. And it does. It is the kind of room that makes me want to drink my coffee in bed and have lazy Saturday mornings with my daughter who often tip-toes in silently in the wee hours of the morning. It is...almost finished and I can't wait to have the perfect sweet escape. Whether it be from my stress at work, everyday life, my family, or the rest of my house which has yet to be finished...it is glorious.
I am currently tucking myself away from the sounds of my 4 year old daughter and nephew who are dancing to the Mickeymouse Clubhouse song for the 14th time(at least I think it's 14) and so I am blogging from my laptop which I do not have access to photos on. I plan to post some of the beginning photos of our bedroom and the phases I have gone through to get where I am. It's simple, but it's my work and simple is the way I wanted it.
Again, like the last challenge (finding comfort sites)I put out there... I challenge you to find a sweet escape in your home. It could be your bedroom, kitchen(especially if you love to cook), your bathroom(hey, what you do is your business) or even your porch. Whatever it is make sure it's some place that makes you feel warm and relaxed. Often times we find ourselves confined by the chaos that occurs around us in daily life. A blue room or a soft throw can do wonders for your well being. You'd be surprised. In fact....I'm feeling so relaxed I think I'll take a mid-Sunday nap. I haven't had one of those in a while. I'm sure the nap and I will get along quite nicely. Until next time.... be persnickety, because you can.

Birds, birds everywhere....
I have been working on a project for my daughters room. The goal: A finished mobile of fabric birds and branches. I found the idea here: SPOOL and also got a free pattern which worked like a charm. I made a few minor adjustments. I found the greatest family of fabrics at IKEA and have also made curtains for her room. But I just can't seem to finish it all and make up my mind on the color of branch. Ridiculous thing to stew over but color is the kind of thing that would literally drive me crazy if it's not right. Maybe you can offer some suggestions? The idea is below and some not so great photos from my camera phone of unfinished birds.(close but a little work left to go)
I'd like to paint a tree on the wall similar to this: TREE and cut out fabric leaves from the family I have been using. After cutting them I'd like to adhere them to the wall and then hang the mobile close to the tree so it looks s if it is coming off of the tree. Now for the color dilemma. The Buggaboo's room is white and blue so the tree would be white on a blue wall or green on a blue wall. I just can't decide...but when I do you'll get a finished photo. I swear my life seems so busy right now that it probably looks like I never finish anything. I promise, I do.

Comfort websites
I had rough day today. It was one of those mornings where you wish you could go back to bed and start all over again. On these kind of days I find comfort in my favorite websites. A slight lift in my creativity is all it takes to put me in a better place. (and today I was going on a family outing so being in a better place was necessary)
My guilty pleasure of today is: FRILLA
I came upon this blog quite sometime ago and love to read even her oldest posts. She has fantastic style and can direct you to some useful websites for your own personal projects. Check it out and let me know what you think.
I am currently working on a project of my own. I have taken the sheet music for the song my husband and I got married to and stenciled silhouettes of bird onto them and done some paper cutting. It's turning out alright. There are some last minute adjustments to be made but I will post a photo when I finish.
So what are you working on to inspire your locked up creative side? What are you comfort websites?
